Dura Europos Interface

Spring 2021

Cataloging interface for the Yale University Art Gallery’s Dura-Europos collection, completed as a senior project in computer science at Yale. The vast Dura-Europos collection contains thousands of artifacts and photos from the Dura-Europos archaeological site in modern-day Syria. The interface I built was part of a larger effort spearheaded by the Yale ARCHAIA program to open up this collection to a global network of researchers for data analysis, with the ultimate goal of creating a public, comprehensive virtual tour of the historical site. The intent was for researchers to log in to the interface in order to search the database of photos and submit data and observations, which would then be uploaded to a growing Wikidata repository of linked open data.

In order to explore the site, input “username” and “password” when prompted to log in on the landing page. I designed this interface in Adobe XD; built it using Vue.js, Node.js, and Django; and hosted it on Heroku.
